Donald Strunk, Sr., age 84 of Spooner, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2024, at the Maple Ridge Care Center in Spooner.

Donald was born on March 19, 1939, in Spooner, the son of Maynard and Wyona Strunk. After high school he enlisted and served in the US Army and married the love of his life, Carol Frey in 1964. As a talented artist, he produced many beautiful wildlife paintings and woodcarvings. He donated his carvings to Ducks Unlimited for fundraisers, and other works can be found inside local churches.

Donald is survived by his wife of 59 years, Carol, six children: Kim (Lance) Reed, Donny Strunk, Jeff (Amye) Strunk, Mike (Kady) Strunk, Greg (Amy) Strunk, and Matt Strunk, 14 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, brother Doug (Ginger), and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by parents Maynard and Wyona Strunk.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 26, 2024, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Shell Lake, WI. Visitation will start at 10 am with a Memorial Mass at 11 am, followed by lunch in the church hall. Graveside services with Military Honors will follow at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery at 2 pm.
