In Memory of Donald Anderson
Donald Dean Anderson of Frederic, WI died on February 17, 2019 at his home in Indian Creek. He was 91 years old.
Donald was born June 14, 1927 to John and Elsie Anderson in the Town of Lorain. He farmed with his dad until drafted into the Army in February of 1946. In April of 1947 he received an Honorable Discharge when the armed services went to all enlisted forces.
Donald worked for various farmers and did some work in the woods when it was available. He also spenta summer working on a potato farm in North Dakota at which time he slept in hay stacks. In February of 1951 he went to the Twin Cities to seek employment. He worked for M.P. Molders for a time.
On February 25, 1952 he married Ina Mae Nelson of Clam Falls.
In August of 1952 he went to work for Waldorf Paper Products of St. Paul. During this time three children were born, Clifford, Harry and Peggy.
In June of 1961 Donald and family moved back to Lorain to a little farm they purchased from his parents. Both Donald and Ina continued to farm and work off the farm to make ends meet. In 1967 they purchased a larger farm and added more cows. Donald then drove school bus and farmed until the Indian Creek School closed in 1969. From then on Donald stayed home and farmed until 1987 when he had his hip replacement which caused him to semi-retire. Donald and Ina raised beef cattle until they sold the farm in 1997 and built their new home on County Road E where Ina died in 1998 after a long battle with cancer.
Donald and Ina were very graceful dancers. Donald enjoyed dancing and found places to dance two to three times a week. He danced until 2015 when hip issues prevented him from continuing to dance.
Donald was preceded in death by his wife, Ina and son, Harry.
He is survived by his son, Clifford (Junellyn) and daughter, Peggy (Tim) Lundmark; grandchildren, Jenny (Aaron) Kasper, Kristen Anderson (Sam), Megan (Mike) Prall, Chad (Staci) Lundmark, Traci Lundmark, Kelly (Greg) Lundquist, Amber Bednar, Holly Summers, Katie Anderson; and 22 great-grandchildren plus 2 additional great-grandchildren due soon.
Memorial Services will be held at the Rowe Funeral Home in Frederic on Friday, February 22nd – visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. and will be followed by the service at 11:00 a.m.
