In Memory of Donald Ross


June 6, 1935 - June 23, 2022

Donald “Alan” Ross Age 87, passed away on Thursday, June 23, 2022 surrounded by his loving family in Cumberland, WI.

He was born on June 6, 1935 at Beloit Memorial Hospital to John “Donald” and Doris “Pauline” (Bennett) Ross.

He attended Sunday School at Manchester Free Church. Alan graduated from North Boone High School at Capron, Illinois. In high school he was involved and excelled in sports - football, basketball, baseball and track. He met his wife, Charlotte Hutchens in high school. Alan attended the University of Wisconsin - LaCrosse playing football his freshman year. Alan worked for Wisconsin Knife Works which was purchased by Black and Decker. As a material manager he was able to go to Israel and tour the area and retired at age 58. Alan and Charlotte traveled to Europe, Mexico and a cruise to South America. They saw many of the 50 states. Alan helped to organize the Beloit Curling Club and was active in the construction of Beloit’s Telfer Ice Arena. He loved to cook, fish, hunt and play golf. Alan was loving and quiet. He had great integrity and was a true family man.

He is survived by his wife, Charlotte; children, Nancy Ross of Eau Claire, Patty (Paul) Anderson of Beloit and John (Bobette) Ross of Appleton; 4 grandchildren, Justin (Kirsten) Troyan, Lauryn Ross, Jessica (Mo) Reza and Lyndsey Ross; a great granddaughter, Nora Troyan; a brother, James Ross; a sister, Susan Culver; nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother and sister-in-law, Warren “Tom” and Sally Ross.

Funeral Services will be held at 11AM Saturday, July 9, 2022 at Sarona United Methodist Church, Rev. Jean Waldron officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the funeral service. Appleyard’s Home for Funerals in Rice Lake, WI is assisting the family with the arrangements. The funeral service will be live streamed on facebook at - Jon Tillung.

In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to Sarona United Methodist Church.
