In Memory of Dixie A. (McGough) Becker
Dixie Ann (McGough) Becker, 79, of Clayton passed away at home, December 10, 2024. She was born June 7, 1945, in Eau Claire, WI to Alfonso and Jean (Olson) McGough. She was baptized and confirmed catholic.
Dixie graduated from Rice Lake High School in 1963; then attended Barron County Teachers College in Rice Lake. Dixie met her husband, Arnold Becker, while working on computers in St. Paul at GTA. She met him through Arnie selling a horse and decided he was the one. They married in Silver Creek on September 23, 1972 and shared 52 wonderful years together.
They made their home in Clayton on “Little Rock Farms” where she raised registered Pinto Arabian and Quarter Horses. Dixie trained and showed Arabian Pinto horses all over the midwest, and sold horses across the country, including two international champions.
She worked at Land O' Lakes feed mill for several years then started at Saputo Cheese in 1985, retiring in 2011 as a lab tech. Dixie continued to raise horses up to three years ago.
Dixie and Arnie sold the farm in 1995 and moved to the ‘Back 40’ where they built a house overlooking a pond where they cared for many horses, cattle, dogs, cats, and pet raccoons. She was also an avid camper and could always be found in their camper during the summer.
She is survived by her loving husband, Arnold Becker; sister, Susan Yusten; brothers: Roland McGough, Mike McGough, and Dan McGough; stepson, Hjalmer (Summer) Duenow; brothers-in-law: Dennis Becker and Carl (Diane) Becker; nieces and nephews: David, Jennifer, Laura, Jason, Dawn, Krista, Shannon, Kelly, Erin, Nicole, David, and Heather; many many grandnieces and nephews, and many friends.
Dixie was preceded in death by her father, Alfonso McGough; mother, Jean Pichelman; step-father, Merle Pichelman; brother-in-law; Dennis Yusten; sisters-in-law: June Becker, Linda Kisting, and Evelyn Becker.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, December 19, 2024, at Silver Creek Lutheran Church - Clayton. Burial will be in Mt Hope Cemetery in Silver Creek. Visitation will be for one hour before the service.
