In Memory of Diane M. Peterson


March 16, 1941 - August 12, 2024

Diane Marie Peterson Age 83, of Rice Lake, WI, died Monday, August 12, 2024 in Rice Lake.

She was born in a snowstorm on March 16, 1941 in Amery, WI to Carl and Edna (Elden) Henrikson and raised in Little Falls where her parents owned and operated The Little Falls General Store. Diane graduated from Amery High School in 1959. She married her high school sweetheart Vernon Peterson on July 25, 1959. Diane loved being a homemaker, mother and grandmother. She later became a dental receptionist for Dr. Elbert in Rice Lake for many years. Diane enjoyed golfing, bridge, reading and traveling with friends and family. She was a talented seamstress and quilter, creating Quilts of Valor for veterans. Her talents included Rosemaling, woodworking, and anything else that she tried. She was a member of Rice Lake Fortnightly, PEO Chapter Z and the Churchberries Quilt Group.

She is survived by her husband, Vern Peterson; 2 children, Dawn (Dave) Harwell and Philip (Rachel) Peterson; 6 grandchildren, Sam (Caitie), Libby, Nathan (Karlee), Ashley (Zach), Daniel (Ang) and Sean (Maria); 3 great-grandchildren, Tessa, Brody and Haven; 4 sisters, Shirley Rosenbush, Janice (Oliver) Aune, Nancy (Geoff) Timm and Lynnette (Paul) Lyndholm; a brother, Donald (Karen) Henrikson; a sister-in-law, Virginia Henrikson; many nieces, nephews and treasured friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Edna Henrikson; and a brother, Paul Henrikson.

Funeral Services will be held at 11AM Friday, August 23, 2024 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Rice Lake, Rev. Arthur Bergren officiating, with private interment in the Little Falls Cemetery in Little Falls, WI. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service at the church. Appleyard’s Home for Funerals in Rice Lake is serving and assisting the family with the arrangements. The family would like to thank the members of Bethany Lutheran Church, St. Croix Hospice and Woodstone Senior Living for their compassionate care.
