Devan Charles James Nelson “Niiganigabo” a resident of River Falls passed away on November 8, 2024 at the age of 23.

Devan was born in Cumberland to parents, Troy D. Nelson and Laracia Staples on December 15, 2000.
Devan loved soccer and hockey but also enjoyed the outdoors hunting and fishing.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather Kenneth Nelson, maternal grandmother Leianne Doriott and brother Dylan.

He is survived by his father Troy (Katrina) Nelson, mother Laracia Staples, girlfriend Lizzie Lencowski, daughter Addilyn Grace Nelson, his sisters Darian Nelson and Kailey Nelson, paternal grandmother Marilyne (Steve) Gallman and maternal grandfather Dennis Staples, along with his nephew Cayson Dale, other relatives and friends.

Friends may call after 6:00 pm on Monday, November 11, 2024 at the St. Croix Tribal Center.

A funeral service will be held for Devan on Tuesday, November 12, 2024 at 10:00 AM at the St. Croix Tribal Center. Interment will follow at the Viola Lake Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mark Stoner, Tyler Green, Justice Gutting, Jake Reynolds, Jeff Nelson and Theodore Nelson, Jr.
