Derek S. Swan, age 26, of Spooner, WI passed away on Thursday, March 24, 2022 at his home.

Derek Steven Swan was born January 18, 1996 in Rice Lake, WI the son of Steven and Denise (Durand) Swan.

He graduated with honors from Spooner High School in 2014 and then continued his education at the University of Minnesota-Duluth. He then attended Chippewa Valley Technical College for a year studying information technology. Derek worked for Tony’s Riverside as a cook for the past six years. He was an avid Minnesota Viking fan and one of his fondest memories was attending the Minnesota Miracle. He also enjoyed playing fantasy football, being on the computer and attending live music events.

Derek is survived by his parents, Steve and Denise of Spooner; sister, Karly Swan of Spooner; paternal grandmother, Patricia Swan; maternal grandmother, Judith Durand; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.  

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Merlin Swan and maternal grandfather, Wilfred Durand.

A gathering of family and friends will be held for Derek from noon to 3:00 p.m. at Tony’s Riverside in Spooner on Sunday, April 3rd.

A private burial will be held in the Spooner Cemetery.
