In Memory of Dennis Holtegaard


December 31, 1947 - August 23, 2019

Dennis Irven Holtegaard Age 71, of Rice Lake, WI died Friday, August 23, 2019 at home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on December 31, 1947 in Lanesboro, Minnesota to Irven and Arlene (Skalet) Holtegaard. Dennis graduated from Lanesboro High School in 1965, received his Bachelors Degree in Education from Winona State and then received his Masters Degree in Business Administration from Mankato State. He was married to Jill Sackett on August 9, 1969 in Dodge Center, MN. Dennis taught Mechanical Drafting and Architecture Design in Cresco, Iowa, was a Manager and Real Estate Agent in Rochester, MN, was in Sales for Josten’s for 10 years and then became the Dean of Continuing Education at WITC in Rice Lake from 1991-2009. Dennis enjoyed downhill skiing in the winter and spending time at the lake, golfing, and grilling in  the summer.  He loved spending time with family and friends; having fun with his four grandkids was his greatest delight.

He is survived by his wife, Jill Holtegaard of Rice Lake; 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Krista and Aaron Staloch of Wayzata, MN & Kari and Dave Koob of St. Louis Park, MN; 4 grandchildren, Sophia, Benjamin, Henry and Maggie; his mother, Arlene Holtegaard of Lanesboro, MN; 2 brothers, Philip Holtegaard of Lanesboro, MN and Lowell (Sheri) Holtegaard of Peterson, MN; many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his father, Irven Holtegaard; and a brother, Larry Holtegaard.

Funeral Services will be held at 11AM Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Rice Lake, Rev. Grant Aaseng officiating. Visitation will be held from 4-7PM Tuesday at Appleyard’s Home for Funerals in Rice Lake and for one hour prior to the Funeral Service at the Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Bethany Lutheran Church in Rice Lake.
