In Memory of Deloris A. Nevin
Deloris “Dee” Ann Nevin, 99, formerly of Springbrook and Barron, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 6, 2024 at Dove Healthcare in Rice Lake.
She was born March 23, 1925 at the family’s home in Poskin, Barron County, to Carl “Helmer” and Hannah (Berg) Wintrone. She grew up in the Barron area and graduated from Barron High School. Deloris married Cyril Scheel on August 10, 1943 and they had four children, Thomas, Michael, Timothy, and Randy “Joe” Scheel. Deloris worked for Scheel Truck Body in Hillsdale until 1970 and then as a meat cutter for Links in Minong.
The family moved to Springbrook in 1979. Deloris did upholstery for many years and enjoyed sewing, knitting, and making crafts. Her famous lefse and klub were favorites amongst her grandchildren.
Deloris hosted deer camp each year, feeding the men and organizing the annual cribbage tournament. She loved the Green Bay Packers and spending time with her extended family. Her relationship with Jesus was important to her and she was confident in her faith.
Deloris married Harold Nevin on August 16, 2014 at the Pioneer Village Museum in Cameron.
She is survived by her sons, Randy “Joe” (Lori) Scheel and Michael (Sharon) Scheel, both of Springbrook; brother, Allen (Donna) Wintrone of Menomonie; 14 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and children of her late husband, Harold (Anita) Nevin Jr., Ronald (Bridget) Nevin, David Nevin, Jacqueline Pauley, and Geraldine (Frank) Stauber.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Cyril Scheel on June 12, 2001 and Harold Nevin on December 5, 2016; her parents, Helmer and Hannah Wintrone; brother, Seymour Wintrone; sister, Pauline Mullikin; two sons, Timothy Scheel and Thomas Scheel; one grandson, Todd Scheel; and one great-grandson, Hunter Scheel.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to staff at Dove Healthcare and Mayo Clinic Hospice for their quality and loving care of our beloved Dee.
The funeral service for Deloris Scheel will be held on Thursday, December 12, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in Barron, with Rev. Ron Mathews officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church with a luncheon to follow.Burial will be in the Earl Cemetery.
