In Memory of Deborah A. Braunstein

March 2, 1949 - February 22, 2024

Deborah Ann Braunstein, 74, of Rice Lake passed away peacefully surrounded by those who loved her on February 22, 2024, at her home.

She was born March 2, 1949, in Sarona, WI to Harvey and Beulah (Hatcher) Peterson.

Debby served in the US military in the Army National Guard. Following her time there she devoted herself to her church, the nursery, to her small group, and her flowers. Debby’s capacity to love was seen and felt by all who knew her. Debby opened her heart and home to love and raise a son that she claimed as her own. She taught and helped inspire him to use his heart in every part of his life; this was also passed on to her grandchildren. Her golden heart extended beyond simply those with two feet; Tilly and Toby were her dog and cat respectively, whom she loved as a big part of her family. They were by her side just as she wanted.

After retirement, Debby continued to care for people. She did end-of-life care and asked for nothing but the knowledge that the people she cared for knew they were loved. During the summer she could always be found in her yard gardening, and in the winter she could be found baking cookies and making cards.

Debby is survived by her son, Sky Josh, and six grandchildren Skyler, Brianna, Lexi, Xavier, Athena, and Elysium; nieces: Hillary, Andrea and Lindsey; nephew, Brian; and cousins: Duva, Marie, and Carol Ann. People active in her life were childhood friend, Joyce; caregiver, Sheila; and friends: Marsha, Debbie G, and Deb Vevea. A special thank you to friends, Pat and Chris who helped Debby with her medical and financial affairs. They have all loved and stood with Debby through the many ups and downs.

Funeral Services will be held at the Barron Ward, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, at a future date with Bishop Jay Jevne officiating. Burial will be in the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner.

Skinner Funeral Home of Rice Lake is serving the family.
