In Memory of David Jacobson
David Jacobson, age 85, a resident of Plymouth, MN, died on Monday, November 11, 2019.
David was born on April 16, 1934, in Stanley, Wisconsin to parents James and Clara (Smeland) Jacobson. He attended and graduated from Stanley High School and then served in the US Army from 1953 until his honorable discharge in 1955 with the rank of Corporal. Upon his return, he entered the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire, and later transferred to the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point where he graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Natural Resources. He retired from the Wisconsin DNR as the District Director of the NW District after 30 years of service in towns such as- Rhinelander, Ladysmith, Hayward, Seymour, and Spooner. David owned a Christmas tree farm in Hayward for many years, built a log cabin for his family near Hayward, and loved to hunt and fish.
David is survived by his daughter Mary (Dan) Maderich of Ashland, WI, son in law Mark Eldred of Plymouth, MN, daughter in law Rhoda Jacobson of Mt. Gretna, PA, 6 grandchildren: Holly and Lauren Maderich of Ashland, WI, Eric and Aaron Eldred of Plymouth, MN, Ian Jacobson and Owen Jacobson of Lancaster, WI, sisters: Nancy (Roger) Orlady of Neenah, WI, Janet (Ken) Fremsted of Stanley, WI, and Barbara Schmitt of North Carolina.
David is preceded in death by his parents, wife Carol, daughter Karen Eldred, son Daniel Jacobson, brother Jerry, and sisters Pauline and Jean.
Funeral services for David Jacobson will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2019, at 11am, at the Spooner Funeral Home with Pastor Heather Kistner officiating. Visitation will be on Saturday, from 10-11am, at the Funeral Home. Interment with Military Honors will follow at the Spooner Cemetery.
