In Memory of David E. Jellen

December 20, 1949 - April 25, 2022

David Edward Jellen, 72, of Spooner, WI, died unexpectedly on April 25, 2022, at Marshfield Medical Center in Rice Lake, WI.

David was born December 20, 1949, to Edward and Laura (Todd) Jellen.

After graduating from Spooner High School in 1968, he left home and worked in Marshfield, WI, where he met his wife, Patricia. They were married on May 3, 1969 and moved back to Spooner. They had 3 children, Sara, Anthony, and Joseph, with Anthony passing on November 5, 1973.

David attended WITC in 1971, taking wood technics for 2 years. Upon graduation he went to work with his father forming Jellen Carpentry. Because he was very skilled as a carpenter, he stayed quite busy!

David enjoyed hunting and fishing, taking many trips out West to Colorado and Wyoming to hunt mule deer and elk, some of which were mounted and hung proudly in the living room at his home.

David is survived by his children Sara (Gino) Wingard of Irmo, SC, and Joseph (Krystal) Jellen of Waianae, HI; sisters, Kathleen (Kenwood) Paffel of Spooner, and Linda (Bo) Stavens of East Bethel; grandchildren Jacob Gilberg and Joshua (Abby Dubek) Gilberg, both of Spooner, WI; and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Shell Lake Tuesday, May 3, 2022, at 11 a.m. with visitation one hour prior, with Father Phil Juza presiding. Interment will follow at the Madge Cemetery.
