In Memory of David "Dave" H. Mittlesdorf
David H. Mittlesdorf, age 75, of Hayward, WI passed away on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at Water’s Edge Care Center in Hayward.
David Hartvig Mittlesdorf was born September 8, 1943 in Colfax, WI the son of Harry and Mable (Erickson) Mittlesdorf. He was raised in Colfax until the age of 13 when his family moved to Hayward, WI to farm. David began work as a teenager for the local Holiday Station where he met the love of his life, Carol Jorgensen. On September 7th, 1962, David and Carol were married at First Lutheran Church in Hayward. David began work with Gillis Motors during the day and would work early mornings and evenings at Sam and Avis Thomas’ farm. He did this for several years until purchasing his own farm that he and Carol operated for six years. While he was still farming, he began snowplowing for the Township of Hayward, which lead to a full-time job. Dave quickly became the supervisor for the township as well as a volunteer firefighter and would spend 25 years there. Dave was very handy in the trades and had the ability to fix anything-he even built his own home in Hayward. He also enjoyed gardening, cooking and baking, canning tomatoes and pickles, woodworking and relaxing in the hot tub. He was an active member in the church and one of the founding members of Grace Lutheran in Hayward. Dave loved his family and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
David is survived by his wife of 56 years, Carol; five children, Richard (Georgia) Mittlesdorf of Dubois, WY, Robert (Denise) Mittlesdorf of Hayward, Karibeth (DJ) Aderman of Hayward, Debbi (Guy Jr.) Houston, Chad “Gus” (Sue) Mittlesdorf of Dubois, WY; sixteen grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; his three sisters, Irene Cook of Elk Mound, WI, Jeanie Christiansen of Seeley, WI, Harriet (Barry) Gobler of Hayward; brother-in-law Lee Prill of Bloomer; and many nieces and nephews.
