Darrell Dean O’Shogay, age 64, of Lac Courte Oreilles, WI, passed away Friday, March 14, 2025, at his home.

Dean was born December 12, 1960, in Iowa City, IA, the son of Alfred and Beatrice (DeMarr) O’Shogay. He attended Welton School in Welton, IA and Clinton High School in Clinton, IA. Dean was united in marriage to Susan Kilburg in 1984 and had two beautiful children, Charles & Lindsay. After moving north to God’s County, he met Lisa Sutton, and they welcomed their son Hunter. Dean worked as a deck hand on a barge on the Mississippi River in Clinton, IA and later at LCO Development. He had many great carpentry skills and fixing things was his passion. Dean enjoyed visiting his family in Iowa whenever he had the chance. He had not yet retired when he became sick three years ago and was not able to work full time, but he still managed to work. Dean was a proud member of the Lac Courte Oreilles Tribe, residing in the New Post Community. He loved going to Helsings to eat and was in a pool league for many years and loved to go fishing and ice fishing. Dean also loved his best friend Buster, his partner in crime.

He is survived by his children Charles (Mandy) O’Shogay of Tama, IA, Lindsay O’Shogay of Clinton, IA & Hunter O’Shogay of New Post; four grandchildren Trintiy, Paxton, Trevian & Davina; brothers Everette (Brenda) O’Shogay of Cedar Rapids, IA & Gerald (Karen) O’Shogay of Spokane, WA; sister Corrine Dwire; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Dean was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; sisters Cynthia, Faith & Janice; brothers Alfred, David Sr. & Alonzo; and niece Monica Dwire.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Monday, May 19, 2025, at New Post Community Center.
