Darrel William Christner, age 66, passed away unexpectedly while battling cancer at his home in Chippewa Falls on March 1, 2022.

He was born on August 6, 1955, the son of Delbert and Dorothy (Phinn) Christner.

After graduating from Spooner High School, he proudly served his country as he joined the US Army, serving time in Germany. After serving his country, he went to school to be an accountant in St. Paul, MN, and worked there for many years. Loving the Spooner area, he would go to his parent home farm on the weekends, and eventually returned to Spooner. Darrel loved deer hunting, fishing, goose hunting with his friends and family, and enjoyed the great outdoors.

Darrel is survived by his brothers and sisters: Marie (Dwaine) Bentley of Spooner, Donald Christer of Spooner, Hazel (Mike) Lee of Minnesota, Michael (Joy) Christner of Spooner, Richard (Sharon) Christner of Spooner, Betty (Butch) Kufalk of Colorado, Myia (Jim) Nelson of Colorado, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and very close friends Al and Kathy Folk of Edgerton.

Darrel is preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents, parents, Delbert and Dorothy (Phinn) Christner, sister, Ellen Johnson, aunt, Delores Christner, and nephew, Darrin Christner.

A celebration of life will be held in the spring with interment and military honors at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
