Daniel “Dan” Paul Ekstrom Age 73, of Birchwood, WI died peacefully on Sunday, November 10, 2019 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on February 24, 1946 in Rice Lake, WI to Edwin and Norma (Olson) Ekstrom. Dan graduated from the Rice Lake High School in 1964 and then attended UW River Falls. He worked for Northern Pipeline operating a back filler, and then met the love of his life, Laura Seldal. They were happily married on December 14, 1968 in Hinckley, Illinois. Dan enjoyed hunting and taught all of his family how to hunt. He also loved woodworking, gardening, yard work, and reading; he loved and created an addition to the hunting shack, which all family and friends enjoyed going to. He will always be remembered for his wit and humor.

He is survived by his loving wife of over 50 years, Laura Ekstrom of Birchwood, WI; 4 children, Paul (Kathy) Ekstrom of Rice Lake, Lea (Ken) Zeilinger of New Richmond, WI, Melissa (Ian) Hall of Sarona, WI and Crystal Ekstrom-Schulz of Rice Lake; 11 grandchildren, Rhonda, Jennifer, Dustin, Karissa, Eli, Cody, Carter, Evan, Larissa, Lainie and Gracie; 11 great grandchildren; a sister, Barb (Wayne) Walters of Birchwood; many nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Norma Ekstrom; a sister, Joann (Jack) Gygli. A celebration of his life will be held at the Rice Lake Elk’s Lodge on Saturday, November 16, 2019 from 3-8PM.
