In Memory of Crystal Potter

January 7, 1980 - March 6, 2019

Crystal K. Potter, age 39, of Sarona, WI, entered her eternal home with her Savior Jesus on March 6, 2019.

Crystal Kay was born January 7, 1980 in Shell Lake, WI, the daughter of Glen Albee and Brenda Melton.  She graduated from Shell Lake High School in 1998 and completed her Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Administration at UW Eau Claire in 2002.  Crystal met Matthew Potter, of Spooner, while they both worked at Economart grocery store in Spooner.  They were married on June 16, 2001 at Spooner Wesleyan Church.  They first resided in Eau Claire, WI, then eventually landed at their home in Sarona, WI.  Crystal’s first job after completing college was as Director of Oak Gardens Assisted Living in Altoona, WI.  While living in Spooner, Crystal worked for Spooner Nursing Home until 2008 as the Activities Director.  In August 2008 she accepted the position of Public Relations Director at Spooner Health, where she worked until 2017.  She has worked for Welltok/Tea Leaves Health for the past couple years as a Lead Client Strategist.

Crystal’s first love is Jesus, her Savior, who was the overriding passion of her life.  The “love of her life” on this earth was Matthew.  It would be difficult to find a sweeter marital relationship than what Matt & Crystal have shared.  Crystal’s main priority was to spend time with her family.  She was incredibly intentional about the investment she made into her children’s lives on a daily basis.   She loved cheering her boys on at soccer games, painting Laila’s nails, homeschooling, and family time.  She enjoyed scrapbooking, reading her Bible and spiritual growth books, listening to worship music, visiting with friends, gathering for family celebrations, watching Hallmark movies, watching Olympics, gardening, cooking/baking/canning, attending conferences, and spending time at the Potter cabin.  Crystal also invested in lives of children in need during mission trips to Nicaragua and Guatemala, as well as supporting children in need worldwide.  She was actively involved with Spooner Wesleyan Church activities, 4-H Club, Spooner Chamber and homeschool coop groups.

Crystal is survived by her husband of 17 years, Matthew; her 3 children, Austin, Colton and Laila; her father, Glen Albee of Shell Lake, WI; her mother, Brenda Melton of Spooner, WI; her sisters, Kerry (Charles) Russell of Spooner, WI; Kayla (Daniel) Smith of Slidell, LA; her brother, Cory (Amber) Albee of Shell Lake, WI; 18 nieces and nephews; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Crystal was preceded in death by her grandparents, Shelvie and Phillip Melton, Garold & Evelyn Albee, and her uncle Allen Albee.

A visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, March 15th, 2019, and from 10-11 a.m. on Saturday, March 16th, 2019, at the Spooner Wesleyan Church.   A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11 a.m. at Spooner Wesleyan Church, with Pastor Ron Gormong officiating.   A light luncheon will follow the service.   Burial will be at Spooner Cemetery.   Glen Abbey Funeral Home and Spooner Funeral Home provided arrangements.

Casket Bearers will be Crystal’s brother, Cory Albee and her brothers-in-law, Charles Russell, Daniel Smith, Scott Potter, Jeffrey Potter and Brian Hodnefield.

In lieu of flowers, it would have brought joy to Crystal’s practical and beautiful heart for people in need, to see the funds placed toward something of lasting impact.  Crystal had a heart especially for orphans and widows, among others.  If you would feel led, would you consider a gift toward any of the following few ministries, in honor of Crystal?
