In Memory of Christopher Butcher


September 6, 1968 - October 13, 2020

Christopher Mark Butcher was born in Janesville, Wisconsin on September 6, 1968 to Thomas and Elizabeth (Ostby) Butcher. He attended Evansville Elementary School school through third grade then moved with his family to Amery and graduated from Amery High School in 1987. In 1991 Chris graduated from the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee with a degree in Social Welfare.  Chris then took a job with the Wisconsin Department of Corrections as a Probation and Parole Agent in Milwaukee, where he went on to obtain a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee in 1995, also serving in The Coast Guard Reserves and later was an adjunct professor at University of Milwaukee. During his time as an Agent, Chris also worked for several years in the Menominee Falls and Hudson areas before returning to Milwaukee. Chris liked travel to Arizona for Christmas every year where his dad and brother have homes and visit other Amery residents who winter there. He loved to golf in Arizona and Clear Lake, WI. Most of all Chris loved spending time with friends. Chris had a gift for friendship and had many dear friends in his life. Chris passed away on Tuesday, October 13, 2020 in Chandler, AZ.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth, in 2002. Left to morn are scores of great friends, his father Tom, brother Matt, sister Margaret Funches and her husband Jerome with children Elizabeth, Jaquan, and Matthew, Aunt and Uncle Julie Ostby and Clark Kleinehinz of Naples, Florida; Aunt Carol Ostby of Eau Claire, Wisconsin and Aunt Carolyn Butcher of Milltown, Wisconsin.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 31, 2020 at the Williamson-White Funeral Home in Amery.
