In Memory of Cheryl Jaastad

June 19, 1957 - September 24, 2020

Cheryl Jayne Jaastad, 63, of Barronett, passed away on Thursday, September 24, 2020, at Cumberland Healthcare after a long and incredibly courageous battle with cancer. She was born June 19, 1957, in Shell Lake, to Darwin and Mary Johanna (Wallace) Arnes. Cheryl was raised in Barronett and graduated from Cumberland High School in 1975. She worked at Jacobson's Eye Care for several years, and then spent 30 years at Cumberland Municipal Utility.

In 2009, she married Dan Jaastad in Las Vegas, NV.

Cheryl had what could only be described as an indomitable spirit. Her warm and contagious smile will be forever remembered. She was blessed with a servant's heart and always gave more than she received. Her community was important to her, and she volunteered her time and energy to make it a better place to live. She spent many years as Secretary at Barronett Lutheran Church, over 30 years as president of the local women’s Ducks Unlimited chapter, and was very involved in the Barronett Community Center- helping run events like Colorfest. She had a passion for baking and when she wasn’t in the kitchen you could find her in her many flower gardens or playing with her beloved golden retriever. Her faith was a guiding light in her life, as were her family. She lived to spend time with her granddaughters who were the light in her life. Over the past several years her resilience and positive attitude has served as an example of courage to all who knew her.

She is survived by her loving husband, Dan; children: Nathan Hargrove of Barronett, Emily (Jeremy) Bartz of Rice Lake; stepchildren: Dan (Paige Geist) Jaastad, Jr., Las Vegas, NV and Megan (Dustin Roatch) Jaastad of River Falls; grandchildren: Maddison and Harper; many cousins and special friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, September 30, 2020 at St. Paul Lutheran Church with Pastor John Miels officiating. Burial will be in Lake Side Cemetery, Barronett. Visitation will be from 9:00 to 11:00 AM on Wednesday at the church.

Skinner Funeral Home of Cumberland is serving the family.
