In Memory of Charlotte A. (Clair) Kennedy
Charlotte Ann Kennedy, 79, of Hayward, WI, passed away August 2, 2025, at Dove Healthcare in Spooner, WI. Ann was born in Roanoke, VA on August 2, 1946. She lived there until her family moved north to the outskirts of Philadelphia, PA for a year or two, before relocating one final time to the suburbs of Chicago, IL. It is there where Ann graduated from New Trier High School in Winnetka, IL. She would attend DePauw University in Indiana but ultimately came back to help her boyfriend at the time, Duncan R. Kennedy Jr manage his family business. They got married on September 6, 1969, and had their one and only child Katharine “Katie” Ann Schulte on May 7, 1970. They would settle in the suburbs of IL for a while, with a couple of years on the east coast and a decade on the west coast and back to the Midwest. However, they always had a home here in Hayward, WI from the mid-1970s to 2012, moving here permanently in 2001.
Ann is survived by her daughter Katie (Matt) Schulte; her grandchildren, Marina 21, Katrina 19, Sabrina 19 and Robert 18 all of Hayward, WI; as well as, her twin brother Charlie Clair of Covington, LA. Ann was predeceased by her parents David Gardner and Charlotte Alberta Clair, her older brother David Arthur Clair and her husband Duncan R. Kennedy Jr.
Ann’s early career was in Finance, but it wasn’t until the computer era and the dawn of IT that Ann found her true passion. She self-taught and rose through the ranks at many large corporations. Eventually, becoming a consultant and helping many organizations through the Y2K predicament.
Never slow down, never look back, never regret…she was one a kind! If you knew her, you would not have forgotten her. She was bold, she was loud, she was opinionated…but she cared bigger, she never gave up and she stood for something. Right to the end, she rode Arctic Cat snowmobiles (occasionally a Polaris) from the 1960s until February of 2025 and her last ride on her CanAm motorcycle was this April 2025.
There will be no official funeral, a celebration of life will be planned in the next couple of months. Please no flowers for the family, instead consider a donation to cancer research. And be sure those you love know it, things can change too quickly, hug often!
