Charles “Gene” Eugene Stevens Age 73, of Rice Lake, WI, died Sunday, August 29, 2021 in Rice Lake.

He was born on November 13, 1947 in Iowa to Charles and Mary (Simmons) Stevens.

Gene graduated from Illinois School for the Deaf in Jacksonville, Illinois and loved helping other people.

He is survived by 3 sisters, Janet (Tom) Ewer, Marilyn (Grayling) Stayner and Gladys Kusko; 8 nephews and nieces; 10 great nephews and nieces; 9 great great nephews and nieces; best friend, Dave Martinson; and a special family, Betsy (Gene) Phillips.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Aunts and Uncles; and a Niece. He had the ability to talk to anyone and everyone and get them to smile.

He could relate to others, and was known for his compassion and sense of humor. He helped in sign language classes to show students how to sign.

Private family services will be held.

Appleyard’s Home for Funerals in Rice Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
