Charles René (Chuck) Jackson, 82, of Long Lake/Sarona and formerly of Mondovi, passed away on Friday, December 22, 2023, at Indianhead Medical Center, Shell Lake.

He was born March 28, 1941 to Charles (Carl) and Crystal (Swanson) Jackson in Faribault, Minnesota.

Chuck grew up in Kenyon, Minnesota and went to a one-room school, where his mom was his teacher for his first seven years. He graduated from high school in 1958 in Farmington, Minnesota. He married Lois (Derscheid) Jackson on December 1, 1962 in Kenyon. After graduating from Winona State University, Chuck taught middle school math in Mondovi, Wisconsin for 33 years, retiring in 1997. He also coached eighth grade football for 28 years and was a lifeguard and swimming teacher at the Mondovi pool for many years. Chuck was active at Central Lutheran Church in Mondovi and Long Lake Lutheran Church, where he helped to build the church addition as his first retirement adventure. Chuck loved fishing, hunting with his sons and grandson and extended, second family. He had many other favorites: a good cup of coffee, chocolate (especially brownies and fudge), mashed potatoes, good-natured ribbing of his grandkids and anyone else who was a good sport, watching his grandkids' activities, Vikings football, and the Elvis station on Sirius XM. He is survived by his wife, Lois of Long Lake; children Scott (Paula) Jackson of Hibbing, Minnesota; Tim (Jenn Lucas) Jackson of Lagro, Indiana; Michelle (Steve) Myers of New Auburn, Wisconsin; grandchildren Marissa Myers, Emily Jackson, Lucas Jackson, and Lauren Jackson; and great-grandson Greyson Myers.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his parents-in-law, Maurice and Beatrice Derscheid.

Funeral Services will be held at Noon, Monday, January 15, 2024 at Long Lake Lutheran Church in Sarona, WI, Rev. Rodger Prois officiating, with interment in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10AM-Noon, Monday, January 15, 2024 at the church. Appleyard’s Home for Funerals in Rice Lake, WI is assisting and serving the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Maurice & Beatrice Derscheid/Charles and Lois Jackson Scholarship Fund at Luther Seminary of St. Paul, Luther Park Bible Camp of Chetek, Long Lake Lutheran Church, or donor's choice.
