In Memory of Charles Odell Jr.


May 17, 1945 - August 20, 2019

Charles Edward "Chuck" Odell Jr., 74, of Cumberland died Tuesday, August 20, 2019 at Care and Rehab-Cumberland. He was born May 17, 1945 in Cumberland, WI to Charles "Charlie" Odell, Sr. and Wyone (Bonneville) Odell. Chuck graduated from Cumberland High School in 1964. Straight out of high school, he joined the U.S. Navy, and served from 1964-1968. Chuck was married in Cumberland, WI on October 5, 1968 to Arlyce Nelson.

Chuck was a true outdoors man. He went on several different trips across the country ranging from hiking in the Appalachians, bear hunting in Canada, elk hunting in Colorado, shark fishing in Texas, and scuba diving. He was a very patient man when it came to his grandchildren. Chuck made a point to make it to every event that he was able to. When it came to the many camping and canoeing trips, he and his family went on, Chuck could be counted on to be a playful instigator.

After Chuck retired from 3M Cumberland, where he had worked for 30 years, he took up the hobbies of scroll sawing and metal detecting. While he never did find anything with his metal detector, he made many new friends. Chuck was a member of the Shell Lake/Spooner Masonic Lodge, the American Legion, and Island City Car Club. Along with his brother Robert, he was a very active participant in black powder rendezvous for 30 years including memberships in Old Northwest Company and Northwest Free Trappers.

Chuck is survived by his wife Arlyce of Cumberland; children:Tammy (Kevin) Becker of Turtle Lake and Tracy (Victor) Trejo of Venus, Texas; grandchildren: Matthew (Katy) Becker, Jonah Becker, Katie Becker, Sophia Becker, Ana Patricia Trejo, Diego Trejo, Briana Trejo, and dog, Peanut; great grandchildren: Keina, Victor, Jovany, and Jonathan Trejo; siblings: Marjorie (Gary) Bergmann and Robert (Jean) Odell, both of Cumberland; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Sr. and Wyone Odell.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Monday, August 26, 2019 at Skinner Funeral Home - Cumberland with Pastor Steve Miller officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30-11 AM the day of the service. Burial will be at Northern Wisconsin Veteran Memorial Cemetery. Honorary Pallbearers will be Matthew Becker, Jonah Becker, Katie Becker, Sophia Becker, Ana Patricia Trejo, Diego Trejo, and Briana Trejo. Military honors will be performed by the Anderson Thomson Post #98 American Legion following the service.
