In Memory of Charles H. Lehman


August 6, 1932 - February 15, 2024

Charles Lehman, 91, formerly of Danbury, WI passed away on Tuesday, February 15th at Divine Nursing & Rehabilitation in St. Croix Falls, WI.

Charles “Chuck” was born on August 6th, 1932 to Joseph & Cora Lehman. He attended Unity School District. He joined the Army and served during the Korean War. After returning from service, he met and married Donna Mae Dowd on October 29th, 1955. To this union they welcomed 6 children.

Chuck held many jobs over the years, primarily in the road construction industry, as well as being an over the road truck driver for many years. Chuck was also a farmer for 20 plus years.

In 1987 Chuck and Donna moved to Danbury, WI where he continued to work small jobs with local contractors until his retirement. He also worked as a funeral assistance for a number of years at Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home.

Chucks hobbies included snowmobiling, 4 wheeling, fishing, playing cards, shooting pool and hunting. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family, especially the time with the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren that visited and/or camped on the land in Danbury. He spent hours mowing all of the campsites in preparation for the kids to come up camping. He especially loved horseback riding and competed in many rodeos. His last competition at age 79, he took first place in all events for seniors.

Chuck was a member of the American Legion for 66 years where he served proudly. He was an active member of the Disabled American Veterans and The Knights of Columbus for many years. He was also very involved with his church.

Chuck and Donna wintered in Arizona for a couple years, then began wintering in Mission, Texas with their dear friends Rod and Millie Hopkins. While in Texas he enjoyed playing shuffleboard and shooting pool with others in the hall.

Chuck is preceded in death by his loving wife of 66 years, Donna; his parents, Joseph and Cora Lehman, brothers, Joseph Jr., George, Lester, Ray and Donnie; sisters, Gladys, Lenora and infant sister, Dorothy; daughter, Debra; grandsons, Joshawa and River.

He is survived by his brothers, Ervin (Jan) Lehman and Marvin (Tubby) Lehman; sisters, Henrietta Swager, Carol Swointek and Dorothy (Pete) Flatum; children, Barb Cole, Keith (Cheryl) Lehman, Paula (Jake) Foerst, Roger (Shelley) Lehman, Laurie (Ken Nelson) Lehman and son-in-law, Ken Johnson; 17 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, February 22, 2024 at 11:00 AM (visitation 10-11) at Our Lady of Lakes Catholic Church in Balsam Lake, WI with a luncheon to follow. Burial will take place following the luncheon at the Holy Rosary Cemetery in Georgetown. Pallbearers are Matt Cole, Chris Lehman, Joe Lehman, Jim Thomas, Jacob Foerst, Zack Ness, Jared Lehman, Ethan Thomas and Andy Lehman.

Arrangements were entrusted to Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home.
