In Memory of Chad N. Songetay Jr.


January 29, 2002 - June 30, 2022

Chad N. Songetay (Niigaanigaabaw), age 20, a resident of Eau Claire passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, June 30, 2022.

Chad was born on January 29, 2002 in Spooner to parents Chad Songetay, Sr. and Monica Martinson.

Chad grew up in Siren, attending Siren Schools and was a 2020 graduate.

He enjoyed listening to music, playing basketball and video games. He considered himself fashionable and was particular about the style of clothes and shoes he wore. He was well liked, outgoing, kind and always had time to hang with his friends.

He was preceded in death by his great grandpa, Leva Oustigoff, Sr; great grandma, Kathryn LaPointe and great uncle Michael LaPointe.

He will be sadly missed by his dad, Chad, Sr. (Tyne Lowe); his mom, Monica Martinson; his siblings, Carmine Songetay, Caleil Songetay, Chenoa Songetay, Chloe Songetay and Amina Sonnenberg; grandparents, Laura Oustigoff (Jeremy Littlepipe), Martin Songetay, Rana LaPointe and Jesse Martinson; great grandparents, Beverly Oustigoff and Jean Songetay; along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends.

Friends may call on Saturday, July 2, 2022 after 4:00 PM at St. Croix Tribal Center in Hertel. Funeral service will be held on Sunday, July 3, 2022 at 10:00 AM at St. Croix Tribal Center in Hertel with Chato Gonzalez officiating. Interment will follow at Sand Lake Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Carmine Songetay, Caleil Songetay, Tristen Oustigoff, Conrad St. John, Jordan LaPointe and Neil Oustigoff, Jr. Honorary casketbearers will be Al Oustigoff, Neil Oustigoff, Leva Oustigoff, Jr., Joe Oustigoff, William LaPointe, Jeremy Littlepipe, Riley Churchill, Trey Nelson and McKayl Taylor.

Arrangements were entrusted to Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home, Webster.
