In Memory of Carol J. Clark

July 9, 1949 - January 16, 2025

Carol Jane Clark, born on July 9, 1949, in Cumberland, Wisconsin, lived a life that was a true testament to the power of courage, love, and generosity. On January 16, 2025, in Frederic, Wisconsin, surrounded by family, Carol's final chapter closed after a long and courageous battle with colon cancer. Yet, her legacy is one that continues to inspire and motivate all who were blessed to know her.

With a spirit that refused to be dampened by adversity, Carol approached life with a vigor that was both remarkable and infectious. Her love knew no bounds, especially when it came to her family. She was a beacon of strength and affection for her children, Amanda and her husband Mark Mehtala, Jennifer Hansen, Francine Clark (who preceded her in death), and Merton Clark, will carry her memory forward with every step they take.

Carol's legacy extended to her beloved grandchildren, Cheyenne, Bryce, Brandon, Howie, Reese, Kaleigh, Kya, Adley, Rylee, Chevy, and Trinity, as well as Great grandchildren Alexiana and Kaedyn. Each of them was a spark of joy in her life, and she cherished every moment spent in their company. The lessons she imparted, the laughter they shared, and the unconditional love she gave will be cherished treasures for generations to come.

Her interests were as vibrant as her personality. Carol reveled in the simplicity of spending time with her sisters Myrna Ostenson, Judi Sweeney, and Donna Mischler, creating memories that would last a lifetime. Her passions included bonfires, fishing, and playing at the casino.

Carol's life was a living example of how to face challenges with bravery and how to spread love unconditionally. She was the embodiment of courage, not because she never felt fear, but because she never allowed it to hinder her journey. She was loving, not only in the easy moments but also in the times when love required sacrifice and strength. And she was generous, not merely with material gifts, but with her time, her attention, and her spirit.

Today, as we celebrate Carol's life, let us remember that her story does not end here. It is carried on in the hearts of those she touched, in the laughter of her grandchildren, and in the acts of kindness she inspired. Carol's life challenges us to live fully, to love deeply, and to give generously, just as she did.

To have known Carol is to have understood the true meaning of resilience. She showed us that even in the darkest of times, there is light to be found in the love we give and the connections we nurture.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Frances Hansen (Hart). Her sisters Myrna Ostenson, Judi Sweeney, the love of her life Melford Mudgett, and her beloved daughter Francine Clark and grandson Howie.

A burial will take place at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at Balsam Lake Cemetery.

A celebration of life will be held in honor of Carol at a later date. Please check back for updates to the details of the celebration of life as it will be added here when available.

The family would like to send a warm thank you to Adoray hospice, Rowe Funeral Home in Frederic, and the St Croix Tribal Center, for all of the assistance and support during this difficult time
