In Memory of Buddy Robotka


September 16, 1934 - December 15, 2019

Buddy J. Robotka Age 85, of Birchwood, WI died Sunday December 15, 2019 at the Marshfield Medical Center - Rice Lake, WI.

He was born on September 16, 1934 in Birchwood to Joseph and Agnes (Evitch) Robotka. Buddy attended Birchwood School, then entered the United States Marines Corps in 1954 and was Honorably Discharged in 1957. He was married to Donna Olson on February 7, 1959 and raised his 6 children in Birchwood. He worked at Birchwood Lumber and Veneer Mill, initially as a laborer, then foreman and for the last twenty five years was Plant Superintendent. He retired from The Mill in 1996, and then worked at Tagalong Golf Course as grounds keeper until retiring at the age 80. Buddy was married to the love of his life for over 50 years. He was a life long resident of Birchwood and a life time member of the Birchwood Fire Department, recognized for 60 years of service earlier this year. He loved being with his family and because of his family he was able to stay at home with their loving care and companionship for the last 4 years of his life. Buddy enjoyed fishing, hunting, singing karaoke and spending time with his little dog, Cricket.

He is survived by his 3 sons, John (Audra) Robotka of Hayward, WI, Jeff (Bobbi) Robotka of Birchwood and Robert (Melissa) Robotka of Birchwood; 3 daughters, Nadine (Stewart) Williams of Rice Lake, Michelle Robotka (Scott Skolweck) of Savannah, Georgia and Melinda (Donald) Stoeklen of Birchwood; 15 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; a sister, Jeanne Stodola of Rice Lake; many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Robotka; a baby boy, Bradley; his parents, Joseph and Agnes Robotka; 3 brothers, Joseph, Frank and Emil Robotka; and 2 sisters, Dorothy Milbrandt and Darlene Szleszinski.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11AM Saturday, December 21, 2019 at St. Johns Catholic Church in Birchwood, WI, Father Samuel Schneider officiating, with interment in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Birchwood, WI where Military Rites will be accorded him by the Birchwood American Legion Post. Visitation will be held from 4-7PM Friday at Appleyard’s Home for Funerals in Rice Lake and for one hour prior to the Funeral Service at the Church.
