Bryan Allen Gates, age 58, of Barron, passed away peacefully with his wife by his side on Tuesday, June 18 at their home.

Bryan was born in Baraboo on January 16, 1966, to Russell and Lillian (Christianson) Gates. He was the youngest of four, with two sisters and a brother. He graduated from Baraboo High in 1985. Bryan married his wife, Kimberly on May 23, 1989. Together they had one son, Chris. They moved to Chetek in 1998, and then to Barron shortly after.

Bryan had many different jobs over the years, and was considered a “jack of all trades” by many that knew him. There wasn't much that he couldn't do.

Bryan enjoyed hunting, fishing, ATVing, and spending time with his grandchildren.

Bryan is survived by his mother, Lillian of North Freedom; wife, Kim of Barron; son, Chris (Paula) of Chetek; grandchildren, Annabelle and Lux; sisters, Charlene Custer and Donna Elmer; brother, Rusty (Brenda), all of Baraboo; as well as nieces, nephews and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his father, Russell Gates; and son, Jason Hinze.

A Celebration of life will be held at Rausch & Steel Funeral Home in Barron on Saturday, June 29th from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. A benefit for the family will be held the following day at Tree Stand Tavern in Barron from 1:00 until 4:00 p.m.

Arrangements are being handled by Rausch and Steel Funeral Home in Barron.
