In Memory of Bruce Wambold


September 4, 1942 - May 29, 2024

Bruce Wambold, 81, passed away May 29, 2024, in Duluth, MN.

Born September 4, 1942, in Milwaukee, WI, he was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Bruce graduated from Marquette University and Pius II High School in Milwaukee. He dedicated his life to serving others- he was a SP5 helicopter mechanic SP5 in the Army National Guard during the Vietnam War and served his communities as a board member and volunteer paramedic for over 20 years. He dedicated 40 years of service to the State of Wisconsin. His most cherished being his most recent as a probation and parole agent for the Dept. of Corrections.

He leaves a large family, including his wife Pamela, his children Steven (Mary) and Krystal, first wife Barbara, bonus children Crystal Hodgett (Gordon), Benjamin Fitzgerald (Megan), Amy Fitzgerald, and Gwen Thoman.

His granddaughter Abbey Wambold and bonus grandchildren Alyssa Rivera (Esteban), Jayden Hodgett, Isabele Hodgett, Gavyn Hodgett, Lilianna Fitzgerald, Colten Fitzgerald, Aiden Fitzgerald, Hailey Fitzgerald, Emma Snider, Kylee Snider, Molly Snider, Jennifer Otte, Travis Keehn, and many great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents Agnes and Earl Wambold, brothers Russell and Gilbert and stepson Edward Peschl.
Bruce was an active and cherished member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church.

He spent his free time serving the community and indulging in hobbies that included spending time in wildlife, collecting antiques, rocks, stamps, and various other items of interest. He spent time rehabilitating wild animals and pursued wildlife rehabilitation for many years in the Madison area, and enjoyed watching and feeding squirrels, chipmunks, and birds, including the majestic eagles. In addition, many a feral cat was saved by his hand over the years.

Bruce will be deeply missed by all who knew him, as his legacy of service, love of family and dedication to those most in need lives on in the hearts of those he touched. May he rest in peace.

A funeral mass will be held at Saint Francis DeSales Catholic Church at 12:30 PM. Visitation will be from 10 to noon at the Spooner Funeral Home at 306 Rusk St. Spooner, WI 54801.
