In Memory of Brianna B. Dahlberg

March 13, 2015 - April 21, 2023

Brianna Biagia Dahlberg (8) of Siren, WI, died on April 21st, 2023, of complications related to Interstitial Lung Disease at the M Health Fairview Masonic Children’s Hospital in Minneapolis, MN.

Brianna was born to Rosann (Rosie) and Andrew (Andy) Dahlberg on March 13th, 2015, at St Croix Regional Medical Center.

She resided in Frederic, WI, for the first two years of her life before moving with her family to their current residence in Siren, WI. Brianna was an adorable little girl known for her curly hair and caring demeanor. She was always proud to be a big sister to her brothers, Joshua and Grayson. She also truly loved her pets Bossy (cat) and Leia (dog) and thoroughly enjoyed it when they were dressed up for special events.

Brianna was fiercely independent and tried to be self-sufficient in ways not expected of an eight-year-old. She prepared her own food, cleaned up after herself and others, and worked to keep those around her on track, including her brothers. She loved all sorts of music and enjoyed dancing and singing along. Summer was her favorite time of year because it brought the joys of swimming and splashing in pools and lakes. Brianna loved to learn. She attended second grade with iForward Online School and was gifted for her age.

Brianna was widely known for her warrior spirit, her ability to keep hope in the face of adversity, and her enduring smile and laughter. When Brianna was only 18 months, she was diagnosed with a rare auto-inflammatory disease called SJIA. At age four, SIJA began affecting her lungs. She fought, adapted, and overcame every obstacle, including beating a course of Cancer at age five. To combat these diseases, she received treatment in Minneapolis, MN, and Cincinnati, OH. Brianna endured hundreds of nights in the hospital and experimental treatments that kept her thriving. Through her medical journey, her story touched hundreds of lives and gave hope to other families facing this difficult disease.

Brianna’s gift of giving will live on. She pioneered new treatments for her disease and aided in research to manage her disease more effectively. Her parents have donated her lungs to research at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital and research facilities in Italy with the hopes that her life will aid in the treatment of other children.

Brianna is survived by her loving parents and brothers, Joshua and Grayson; her grandparents, Louis and Biagia Fasullo and David and Julie Dahlberg; her uncle Sal Fasullo, and aunt Kathryn (Jason) Spadanuta-Castello; and cousin Clark Spadanuta-Castello. She is also survived by her great-grandparents, Francesco and Rosa Sanfillipo, Giuseppa Episcopo, and Lloyd and Eillen Johnson.

Brianna was preceded in death by great-grandparents, Silvestre Fasullo and Mark and Maude Dahlberg.

Brianna Biagia Dahlberg will be buried at the Wood River Cemetery on Skog Rd in Grantsburg, WI. There will be a visitation held on and Friday, April 28, 2023 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home, Siren, WI. The funeral service will be held in her honor at Bethany Lutheran Church, Siren, WI on Saturday, April 29, 2023 at 11:00 AM (visitation from 10-11 AM).

In Lieu of flowers, the family asks for monetary donations in which a portion will go directly to the research being done on her lungs that is overseen by SJIA Foundation in Cincinnati, OH. This research will further develop understanding and treatment of this disease for children across the world.

Arrangements were entrusted to Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home.
