In Memory of Bonnie Fjorden
Bonnie Rae Fjorden, 79, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by family on May 19, 2019 after a courageous battle with esophageal cancer.
Bonnie was born on June 18th, 1939 at the family farm in Milltown, WI to Joy and Burnes Hanson. She attended school in Milltown and Bonnie was the Valedictorian of the last graduating class from Milltown High School in 1957.
Bonnie married Jack Fjorden on October 9, 1960 at the Milltown Lutheran Church. They made their home in the old Springbrook School House in Luck where they raised three children. After the children graduated from high school, Bonnie attended classes and became a CNA. She worked at the Willow Ridge Nursing Home in Amery for a short time and then worked for many years at the United Pioneer Home in Luck. In 1998, they built a new home in Milltown on Bonnie’s family farm.
An important event in Bonnie’s life was a trip to England (all by herself) to visit her long time pen pal, Maureen. They started writing to each other when they were in grade school as a class assignment. She also traveled with relatives to visit family in the fjords of Norway.
Some of Bonnie’s favorite activities included reading, watching sports (especially the Wisconsin Badgers) and Jeopardy, and dirt track auto racing. You would also see her at all her children’s and grandchildren’s sporting and school events.
Family get-togethers are not going to be the same without her. Everyone will miss her glorified rice and caramel rolls that cannot be duplicated as much as the family tries. She was an avid baker and the kids soon learned to check the counter and cookie jar for treats.
Left to remember Bonnie are her husband of 58 years, Jack; her brother, Dale; her children, Rhonda (Daryl) Bazey, Jamie Fjorden, Cory (Nikki) Fjorden; grandchildren, Kelsey Bazey, Josh (Marissa) Bazey, Jordan Bazey, Sarah Fjorden; great-grandchildren, Terrence and Noella; brothers-in-law, George (Sandy) and Harold (Dolly); sisters-in-law, Cora, Marguerite (Johnny), and Priscilla; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at Bone Lake Lutheran Church in Luck, WI on Friday, May 24th at 5:00 p.m. with visitation one hour prior to the service.
Arrangements are entrusted to Rowe Funeral Home,
