In Memory of Blaire L. Helstad
Blaire Lania Helstad, age 8, of Cameron, WI, was promoted to heaven on November 19, 2024 due to complications from FIRES (Febrile Infection-Related Epilepsy Syndrome).
Blaire was born on February 6, 2016 to Nicholas and Jennifer Helstad in Rice Lake, WI. She attended Hilltop Elementary School, but wasn’t able to finish second grade this past spring due to the sudden onset of her disease. Blaire was a sweet, spunky, and spontaneous little girl who made the room come alive with her zest for life. The Lord blessed her with several talents and abilities. Because of her natural competitiveness and boundless energy, she announced one day that she wanted “to play every sport she could.” So, from the time she was able, she was involved with soccer, volleyball, basketball, baseball, and swimming. Besides sports, she was gifted artistically and musically.
Blaire made friends everywhere she went and had the charisma to get people to follow her instructions without them realizing it. The most important aspect of Blaire’s life was that she was a child of God. She believed that Jesus died on the cross and asked Him for forgiveness of her sins. Because she was a genuine believer, she now has a brand new, healthy body up in heaven with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Blaire Lania Helstad is survived by her parents, Nicholas and Jennifer, her older brother Bjorn, her younger sister Brita, grandparents Rick and Pamela Helstad of Stoughton, WI, grandparents Gary and Lania Schulz of Chetek, WI, Great Grandfather Merlin Helstad and his wife Ann of Sun Lakes, AZ, Great Grandmother Marilyn Larson Janke of Barron, WI, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
The family would like to thank the American Family Children’s Hospital in Madison, WI for their tireless efforts in caring for Blaire over the past eight months.
A celebration of Blaire’s life will be held at the Rice Lake High School, with Appleyard’s Home for Funerals in Rice Lake, WI serving and assisting the family with arrangements. Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 26, 2024 from 5-8 PM in the Ole Olsen Gym. The Funeral Service will also be held in the Rice Lake High School Gym on Wednesday, November 27, 2024 at 10 AM, with an additional opportunity for visitation one hour prior. Blaire will be laid to rest at Meadow Creek Cemetery in the Town of Stanley.
