In Memory of Betty Jansen
Betty Ann Linder was born on August 13th, 1930 in Amery, WI, much to the joy of her parents, Axel and Frances Linder. She was their last baby, joining her five brothers and sisters.
Betty grew up with her loving family in Amery. She attended school and finally received her high school diploma in 1948. At this point, she had already met the love of her life, Wallace Jansen, and they married shortly after her graduation on August 21st, 1948. Betty and Wally were eager to start their family; they welcomed their first son, Jody, on May 25th, 1949, their second, Randy, on January 29th, 1952, and their third and youngest, Jeffrey, on November 29th, 1958. The Jansen clan began their life on a farm near Joel, WI, moved to the Twin Cities for a short time, and finally settled down back in Amery, WI. Betty and Wally built a large, beautiful house on South Twin Lake, which quickly became filled with laughter and memories. She fully embraced life as a housewife. Summers were spent camping and fishing, which was one of Betty’s favorite pastimes. She even had her own special rod and reel. Betty loved cooking and baking as well; she always brought something delicious to pass at potlucks and family get-togethers. She shared her Swedish heritage by teaching everyone how to make lefse, krumkakes, and other goodies, and she never hesitated to share a recipe. Later in her life, she devoted her culinary skills to the students at Amery Schools, working as a cook in the kitchen. Betty also enjoyed gardening, playing cards, and gambling at the casino. There was a running joke in the family that she had a lucky horseshoe hidden somewhere unmentionable! Betty and Wally spent much of their life traveling; they loved to explore different areas of Wisconsin, and they even took their camper and traveled around all of the Great Lakes! Betty had a long, full, joyous life, which came to an end on June 5th, 2020 at Willow Ridge in Amery, WI at the ripe age of 89.
Betty will be dearly missed by her sons, Jody Jansen of Columbia Heights, MN; Randy (Robyn) Jansen of Dresser, WI; and Jeffrey (Renae) Jansen of Amery, WI; nine grandchildren, twenty-three great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren, as well as countless friends and family members. She has been reunited with her parents, Axel and Frances Linder, her sisters and brothers, Nella Melody; John Linder; Ronald Linder; Norma Higgins; and Gloria Trudeau; her husband, Wallace Jansen; her infant daughter, Kimberly Kay Jansen; and her daughter-in-law, Linda Jansen.
Those who wish to celebrate Betty’s life are invited to a visitation at Williamson-White Funeral Home on Saturday, June 13th from 1:00-4:00pm, with a funeral service taking place at 4:00 pm following the visitation. If you are elderly or at risk, we recommend you wear a mask to protect your health, and please stay home if you are ill.
