In Memory of Betty J. Van Natta


January 16, 1938 - March 5, 2024

Betty Jean (Beyer) Van Natta, age 86, of Barron, walked into the arms of Jesus on Tuesday, March 5, 2024 at Monroe Manor in Barron.

She was born January 16, 1938 and was baptized child of God, at Platteville Peace Lutheran Church, the daughter of Leonard and Velma (Butson) Beyer. She attended White Country Grade School and graduated from Platteville High School.

She married Floyd Van Natta on November 17, 1956 at the Little Brown Church in The Vale in Nashua, Iowa. Before moving to Barron in January of 1964, they lived in Grafton, Port Washington and Madison, where her husband worked for the State Department of Agriculture. She worked several years as a dental assistant and in 1982, got her real estate broker’s license. She and her husband owned and operated a real estate office in Barron for 15 years before retiring in 1997.

Her interests included working with cub scouts and was proud to be the mother of three Eagle Scouts. She enjoyed golfing, quilting, knitting, stained glass and sewing church banners. She served on the Barron Golf Board, Barron Community Fund Board, the Barron Hospital Board for twelve years and volunteered at the Barron Hospital, Clinic and Nursing Home for over 35 years, and then volunteered at the Barron Thrift Store.

She was a longtime member of First Lutheran Church in Barron, and served on the Alter Guild for several years. She dearly loved her family and her role of a grandmother.

Betty is survived by her sons, Randal (Kari) of Wausau, Rodney (Jean) of Hartland and Steven (Carol Potter) of Owatonna, MN; grandchildren, Bethany, Kaia, Zachary, Samuel, Skylar, Eric and Sarah; great-granddaughter, Rae; several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Floyd; and sister, Maxine Skjegstad.

A memorial service for Betty will be held at a later date.

Arrangements are being handled by Rausch and Steel Funeral Home in Barron.
