In Memory of Betty Gray

October 16, 1959 - July 25, 2022

Betty Gray passed away on July 25, 2022 due to complications from open heart surgery at the age of 62.

She was born on Oct. 16, 1959 in Aurora, Illinois to Rose (Johnson) and Eugene Stover.

Betty was the youngest of 6 children and was raised on the family farm where she developed her love of animals, family devotion and strong values. Betty was blessed with a son, Brad on December 9, 1977, who remained close to her throughout her life as a devoted son, friend, rock, her biggest cheerleader and partner. Her sister-in-law Melissa helped her achieve her dream of raising AKC registered Labrador and Golden Retrievers. Betty found the love of her life with Matt Norris, and all three of them, along with her mother moved their home to Birchwood, WI in 1993 and turned it into the kennel/farm she always dreamed of. Betty took every opportunity she could to get out on the lake on her pontoon. She could be found fishing with Tammie or her mom, or taking "The Kids" swimming. If she wasn't fishing, she was in a serious poker hand or family Pinochle game. Something she learned from her dad while sitting on his lap. Betty in turn taught "The Next Generation". No visit up North was complete without many nights of competition. Betty took great delight that her 100 year old mother could still play and win. She loved the Eagles, John Denver, the Chicago Bears, and garage sales. Betty had a heart full of love for her friends & family and was a favorite aunt, friend and confidant to many.

She was preceded in death by her beloved partner, Matt; her father, Eugene Stover; and her nephew, Mike Willis.

Betty Gray is survived by her son, Brad Stover; her 100 year old mother, Rose Stover; brother and sister-in-law, Terry and Melissa Stover; sister, Ronda Downing; sister, Sandy Fowler; sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and Donnie Hanson; brother and sister-in-law Andy and Deb Stover; and many other nieces, nephews and cousins.

Her celebration of life will be announced at a later date. Appleyard’s Home for Funerals in Rice Lake, WI is assisting the family with arrangements.
