September 29, 1934 - October 8, 2018

Barbara Jeanne Hegman, 84, of Sarona died peacefully in her sleep on October 8, 2018 at home with her husband and daughter there.

Barbara was born in Detroit Michigan to Harley and Hesten (Wisner) Bowers on September 29. 1934, so she just made it past her birthday.  She was the sort of woman who drew hurting and

needy people to her, and through her friendship, they found themselves, and what they needed to heal.  She was an endless storyteller, and no situation went by without one of her stories.  She was drawn to youth; the age of not quite no longer silly kids, but almost their awkward adult. She treated them as people, and helped them make that transition.  Our house has always full of "adopted" kids.  She will always be loved by Glenn, Lorna, Ramona, and Bob, (who adopted her as his Mom long ago).

 A memorial service will be held for Barbara on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Ronald Gormong officiating at The Spooner Wesleyan Church.  A private, family burial was held at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery.  Arrangements were entrusted to The Spooner Funeral Home.  Online condolences may be left for Barbara’s family at www.bratley-nelsonchapels.com.
