In Memory of Barbara Hartman


December 23, 1945 - May 28, 2019

Barbara Hartman, age 73, a resident of Spooner, died on Tuesday, May 28, 2019, at Spooner Health in Spooner, WI.

Barb was born in Spooner, WI on December 23, 1945, to parents Richard and Florence (Campbell) Lester.  The family moved around northern Wisconsin for a few years before finally settling down in the Springbrook area.  She attended the Lampson School and then graduated from Spooner High School with the class of 1963.  On November 7, 1964, she was united in marriage to David Hartman at the Trego Church.  The couple then moved to the Spooner/Trego area. Barb was a member of Sweet Adelines International for many years singing soprano. She volunteered at the Spooner Nursing Home for several years and was then hired as the Assistant Activities Director for which she continued for another year or so.  Barb loved her flower gardens, watching Minnesota Wild hockey, and challenging her grandkids in a game of 500 rummy. She loved trying new recipes but will always be remembered for her famous spaghetti sauce.  

Barbara is survived by her husband David of Spooner, daughter Shellie (Steve) Stariha of Trego, sons Steve (Brenda) Hartman of Janesville, WI, Tim (Aubrey Cox) Hartman of Spooner, 7 grandchildren: Heather, Zach, Emily, Hannah, Lathan, Jacob, Logan, 2 great grandsons, 2 great granddaughters, 3 god children, and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, sister Mae Hoyt, brother Richard Lester, sister Peggy Zillmer, brother Randy Lester, and infant brother Billy Lester.

Memorial services for Barbara Hartman will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2019, at 11am at the Spooner Funeral Home with Pastor Dan Hermanson officiating.  A gathering of family and friends will be on Saturday, from 10-11am at the Funeral Home. A private interment will take place at a later time.
