In Memory of Barbara F. Bowen

Barbara Faye (Nitcher) Bowen, age 83, a resident of Spooner, died on Monday, May 8 2017, at the Maple Ridge Care Center in Spooner.
Barbara was born on May 21, 1933, in Oberlin, Kansas to parents Thomas and Farris (Clayton) Nitcher. She attended the Decatur High School in Oberlin, graduating in 1951. After graduation, Barbara moved to Los Angeles California to live with her aunt, Sarah Nitcher. Barbara was united in marriage to LeRoy Bowen on July 31, 1954 at the Little Brown Church in Iowa, and honeymooned on Spooner Lake. The couple lived in Waverly until 1963 when they moved to Prescott, Wisconsin. In November of 1977, the family moved to Spooner. Barbara worked at Ventures Unlimited assisting the disabled until she retired in 1991.
Barbara is survived by her children: Joyce (Ted) Hays of Tucson, AZ, Tug (Bucky) Bowen of Spooner, Julie Zehm of Spooner, Leann (Howard) Schmock of Trego, 11 grandchildren: Kerry, Nicole, Kayla, Leatrice, Whitney, Aaron, Sarah, Louie, Kyra, Larissa, Teagan, 4 great grandchildren, brother-in-law Irvin Bowen of Birchwood, WI, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family.
Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Randall and daughter Sherry, brother-in-law Eldon and his wife Marcia Bowen, and sister-in-law Bess Bowen.
A visitation for Barbara Bowen will be held on Thursday, June 22, 2017 at the Spooner Funeral Home in Spooner, Wisconsin from 4-6 pm. A graveside service will be held on Friday, June 23, 2017 at 11:00 am at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery near Spooner.
