In Memory of Barbara A. Lombard

August 22, 1965 - May 14, 2024

Barbara Ann "Barb" Lombard, age 58, of Cumberland began her journey to her forever home, surrounded by her beloved family, on Tuesday, May 14, 2024.

Born August 22, 1965 in South St. Paul, MN to James and Marcella Effertz, Barb was one of ten children. They went on to raise the family in Inver Grove Heights, MN before moving to Cumberland, WI, where she graduated in 1983. Barb worked many jobs in her lifetime, mostly factory jobs. She retired early from Shell Lake Wood Crafters as a supervisor.

On Sept. 17, 1988 she married the love of her life, James “Jim” Lombard, and together they had two beautiful daughters, Brittany and Alyssa.

Barb had a love for all things summer - whether that be fishing, watching sunsets from the pontoon, riding motorcycle and the gator, taking a cruise in the Wrangler, or tending to the flowers in her garden. The simplest things in life brought her the most joy. She was a lover of all animals, particularly her fur babies, Luther and Max, her beloved deer, Sand Hill cranes, and the turkeys that would frequently visit their yard. Barb recalls many special memories while vacationing with her husband, Jim to both the mountains and the ocean; and the close bond and friendship she came to form with her girls. She found great joy and strength in being a grandma to Sophia, Ava and baby Grace, who she adored.

Barb will be forever loved and missed by her husband, of 35 years, Jim Lombard; daughters, Brittany (Jay) Prettyman and Alyssa Lombard; son-law, Jon Wood; granddaughters, Sophia and Ava Wood and Grace Prettyman; mother, Marcella Effertz; siblings, Sharon (Miles) Van Dyke, Mike (Penny) Effertz, James (Val) Effertz, Dan (Julie) Effertz, Terry Effertz, Ken Effertz, and Daren (Clara) Effertz; sister-in-law, Renee (Dave) Hammang; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, James Effertz; brothers, Kevin and Steve Effertz; daughter, Chana Wood; and granddaughter, Georgia Wood.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM on Monday, May 20, 2024 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Cumberland. Interment St. Anthony Cemetery. Pallbearers are Rick Rieper, Troy Krueger, Caleb Effertz, Christian Effertz, Aaron Effertz, Derek Effertz, and Ryan Effertz.

Visitation will be held one hour prior at church.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Cumberland Oncology department and St. Croix Hospice for their care, support, and dedication.

The family requests with respect and gratitude that any memorial contributions be made to St. Croix Hospice or the American Cancer Society.

Skinner Funeral Home of Cumberland is serving the family.
