In Memory of Arthur Christopherson


March 25, 1925 - September 7, 2019

Arthur Christopherson, age 90, of Hayward, WI died Saturday, September 7, 2019 at Marshfield Medical Center after complications from heart surgery.

Arthur was born in Ashland, WI on March 25, 1929 to Arthur and Mary “Mae” Christopherson.  He grew up in Northern, WI and was a career railroader for Chicago Northwestern Railroad until he retired in Hayward, WI in 1987.

Arthur married Joyce Barnes on August 2, 1949 in Pine City, MN.  Together they had seven children.  They were married for 42 years until her death in 1991.  Arthur remarried in 1993 to Joan Baumberger in Hayward, WI.

Arthur was an extremely hard worker.  He was a consummate yard keeper and loved to reminisce on the back porch with family, friends, and his wife whom he affectionately called “Sweet Pea”.  He was one of the most loyal, funny, and caring people.  His love of hunting, fishing as well as the game of baseball, both watching and playing, were just a few of the things that brought him joy.

Arthur is preceded in death by his first wife, Joyce Christopherson, his parents and his brother, David Christopherson.

Arthur is survived by his wife of 26 years, Joan Christopherson; children, Terry (Carolyn), Penelope (Roger Boseman) Cassidy, Heidi Budden, Mike (Tracy), Karen (Josh)Van Riper, Tom (Linda), Pat (Stacey), Brad (Rose) Baumberger, Heidi (Jerry) Ryan and Pam O’Dougherty; nineteen grandchildren and thirty two great grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Art at noon on Friday, September 13, 2019 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hayward with Father David Neuschwander officiating.  A gathering with family and friends will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service on Friday.  A private interment will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery in Rice Lake, WI at a later time.
