In Memory of Arden D. Litwiller

October 19, 1938 - August 29, 2024

Arden Dean Litwiller was born to Harold and Alice (Wilson) Litwiller on October 19, 1938, in Middleton, Michigan. He quietly went to his eternal reward in Rice Lake, Wisconsin on August 29, 2024, following a stroke.

Dad spent his early childhood years near Middleton where he attended a one room schoolhouse. At the age of sixteen, he experienced the new birth and was baptized on January 10, 1954, by Minister Newell Litwiller. He was faithful to the end.

Dad fell in love with Mom, Nancy Studt, and they were married December 28, 1957. Their first three children were born in Michigan. In 1970, they moved to Barron, Wisconsin, where they settled on a dairy farm. After nine years their family was complete when twin girls were born to them.

Dad told us many stories of his growing up years, and he worked for numerous people in his teens learning many trades. He was an avid reader, and his home library was overflowing. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and taking gator rides through the woods. He taught us to love nature, and we learned a lot from Dad. He seemed to always have an answer for any questions we asked him.

Dad loved people and was always interested in other’s lives. He took a special interest in his neighbors, lending a helping hand whenever he could.

After losing Mom in 2023, Dad suffered numerous health issues where he had to move to an assisted living. He loved the residents and staff at both Dove Healthcare and Woodstone Senior Living where he made many new friends.

Those left with special memories are his children-Kim & Mary Litwiller, Brenda Nichols, Wendell & Shelley Litwiller, all of Barron, Jennifer & Kendall Smith, Dalhart, Texas, and Jessica & Jeff Johnson, Del Norte, Colorado; twenty-six grandchildren; forty-nine great grandchildren; siblings-Burneda & Enos Coblentz, Gwen & Willard Toews, Nolan & Judy Litwiller, and Norman & Nancy Litwiller; sisters-in-law-Pat Freed, Beverly Jelinek, and Joan Howes.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy, his parents, two sons-in-law, and one great-grandson.

A funeral service for Arden Litwiller will be held on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at the Barron Mennonite Church in Barron. Visitation will be held at the church on Monday evening, September 2, 2024 from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday morning. Burial will be at the Barron Mennonite Cemetery.
