In Memory of Anna M. Dwyer
Anna Mae Dwyer Fillmore, age 93, passed away on Monday, February 17, 2025 at Monroe Manor in Barron.
She was born on December 26, 1931 to Charles and Ruth (Friberg) Fillmore in Barron. She grew up in the Arland area. She lived in Wisconsin and Minnesota most of her life. When she was in her 20’s, she worked at her parents’ store on the corner of D & F in Arland Township. In 1967 they bought the old school house. She raised 6 children in that old school house.
She worked cleaning various houses and businesses in the Barron area. She didn’t have a drivers license, so she got rides from her neighbors and people that worked at the courthouse. She did finally get her license. She always told us kids, “If someone is coming to pick you up, you better be ready. When they drive in the driveway, you better be walking out the door.” She was a kind, caring and loving lady. The last months she would say, “My get up and go has got up and gone.”
She sewed a lot of her children’s clothes; and she was witty and sharp as a tack up until the day of passing. She loved to read, quilting, jigsaw puzzles and word finds. She liked to go to the senior center and play chicken foot and put together puzzles there. She was a member of Helping Hands and TOPS.
She leaves behind sons, Larry (Joyce Richards) Dwyer of Almena, David Dwyer of Barron and Allan Dwyer of Barnes; daughters, Linda (Peter) Taylor of Bruce and Anita (Bob Larson) Dwyer of Hillsdale; daughter-in-law, Nerissa Dwyer of Barron; ex-daughter-in-law, Jackie Dwyer of Cameron; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; sisters, Eva Erb of Cameron, Lois Dodd of Lake Delton, Priscilla (Richard) Roach of Cottage Grove, MN and Susan Dickson of Cook, MN; as well as nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Daryl and brother, Phillip.
A memorial service for Anna will be held on Monday, February 24, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Rausch and Steel Funeral Home in Barron. A visitation will be held on Sunday, February 23 from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Rausch and Steel Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Monday morning.
