In Memory of Ann R. Weldon
Ann Reybold Weldon, age 85, of Hayward, WI, passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 25, 2024.
Ann was born on September 23, 1938, in Wichita, KS. The daughter of Douglas and Laura (Clark) Reybold, she was raised in Evanston, IN; Salt Lake City, UT; and West Port, CT, where she graduated from high school. She attended junior college and received an associate’s degree.
Ann was joined in marriage to Terry Welch in 1956, and together they moved to Africa where Terry was a pilot. One of Ann’s greatest joys was the birth of their son Larry in 1957. After several years in Africa, Terry was tragically killed in a car accident. Ann and Larry returned to Naples, FL, to live with her parents for a time before moving to Hayward, WI.
Ann was joined in marriage to John Walker in 1971, and together the two lived in Hertel, WI, where they operated Hertel General Store for 10 years before retiring to Hayward. Ann worked as a secretary at Choice Financial in Hayward for many years. John passed away in 2002.
In 2007, Ann married William “Bill” Weldon and very quickly became a beloved part of his family. Ann volunteered with the Hayward Hospital, Golden Living Nursing Home, and St. Joseph Catholic Church where she was an active group member and knitted prayer shawls regularly. She also enjoyed feeding birds around her home, gardening, cooking, and going out for fish fry with her many friends. Becoming a grandmother and great-grandmother, or “Gigi,” was also one of Ann’s greatest joys. Ann will be remembered for her big heart and ability to overcome the difficulties in her life. She was an amazing person, who will be greatly missed.
Ann is survived by her brother, John “Jack” (Carolyn) Reybold of Woodstock, GA; stepchildren Joni Lee (John) Vehrs of Boulder Junction, WI, Terri Weldon of Tombstone, AZ, Laura (Jeff) McFarlin of Deephaven, MN, Michael (Sue) Weldon of Hopkins, MN, Bill (Julie) Weldon of Edina, MN; eight step grandchildren; four step great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands Terry, John and Bill; son Larry Walker, and stepdaughter Cathy Rhinehart.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at noon on Friday, July 12, 2024, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hayward with Father Karunaker Madanu officiating. A time of visitation with the family will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass, followed by a luncheon. Interment will be at a later date at the Cemetery of the Pines in Boulder Junction, WI.
