Amy Beth Aguado, age 53, of Luck, WI passed away at the Osceola Medical Center on Thursday, March 11th, 2021, after her second battle with cancer.

Amy was an energetic and caring person with a strong faith in God who worked tirelessly at her favorite pursuit of helping others. She was Director of Community Education at Luck school since January 2008. Amy spent countless hours volunteering at anything she could, because to her, that was a sure way to improve your community. She believed in working hard and having a good time while doing it, making new friends along the way. She was one of the coordinators of the Ruby’s Pantry monthly food distribution in Luck for several years, and was treasurer for ICEPAC (Indianhead Community Education Planning & Assessment Council). Amy volunteered for the Ice Age Trail Alliance, the Gandy Dancer Marathon, Summer Saunters, Luck School Community Garden, Luck FFA and many other groups at school. When their sons were young, Amy helped out with 4H and worked tirelessly on several committees at Bone Lake Lutheran Church, where she and her husband worked as a Sunday school teacher. Amy’s favorite activity at work had to be organizing and taking groups on bus trips to such places as Bayfield, Redwing, and to see various plays and performances in the Twin Cities area.

Amy was born on November 13, 1967 in Manitowoc, WI to Carole and Laddie Zellinger. When she was one year old, Amy’s parents moved back to the home where her father was born, in the Harmony Township near Phillips, WI. Both her parents were school teachers and also raised beef, made maple syrup, gardened and cut popple for pulp wood off their land. Amy was a tireless worker even then and loved peeling logs after her dad felled the trees.

Amy attended U.W. Stout in Menomonie, WI, where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Technology with a concentration in Technical Communications. During her freshman year Amy met Aleck when he got her name off the “ride board” and drove her home for the weekend while he continued on to visit his family in Mercer. Amy and Aleck were married on July 27th, 1991 and settled in West bend, WI where Amy was a desktop publisher for a small printing company. One job was not enough for her so she picked up a part time job doing similar work at a local newspaper, and did freelance work at home.

Aleck and Amy eventually settled down in the township of Laketown in 1998. It was at this time where Amy truly shined by staying home to raise their 3 sons with Aleck. Amy shared her love for family and the outdoors by often recruiting the boys to help in gardening and outdoor upkeep of their rural home, often with their faithful family dog Duke tagging along to help dig. Amy loved campfires, which seemed to be a great way to unwind after a day of yardwork.

Amy also enjoyed canning apples that grew on their trees, making grape jelly from her Concord grape vines and canning or freezing all the other goodies from her garden. She grew hens and chicks and shared them with many friends (along with her canned goods). Most of all Amy enjoyed playing around in the creek that ran through their property and just wandering around the place to enjoy the beauty. Many family gatherings were held at the welcoming home she helped create.

The family built many memories taking trips to the North Shore, the Black Hills, Yellowstone and Alaska. They also built many fond memories and lasting relationships while camping at various locations around Wisconsin with the families of her old college friends Jodi and Lisa.

Above all else, Amy was most proud of her and Aleck’s 3 sons as the exceptional young men they grew up to become (all Eagle Scouts).

Amy is survived by her husband Aleck of 29 wonderful years, and her sons Jake Aguado (attending Michigan Tech), Nick Aguado (attending U.W. River Falls) and Tony Aguado who is married to Brittany (Thomfohrda) Aguado (both graduates of U.W. Superior).

Amy is also survived by her mother Carole (Kirchmeyer) Zellinger of Phillips, WI, Sisters: Kathy Zellinger of Orlando, FL; Nancy Zellinger of Eau Claire, WI; Janet Kuhlman (husband Mike and their son Josh) of Hudson, WI; Shanelle Fernandez (husband Wilmer) of New Hope, MN; and brothers Fred (wife Sanu) of Clarksville, TN; and Steve (wife Kelsi and their sons Emmett, Noah & Bodhi) of Maple Grove, MN.

Amy was preceded in death by her Father Laddie F. Zellinger of Phillips, WI.

Services will be held at a later date at Amy’s hometown church, Saint John’s Lutheran in Phillips, WI and at the Harmony Township cemetery. A local celebration will take place later in the year.
