In Memory of Alvin Holman
Alvin Laverne Holman, 90, of Shell Lake died , June 11, 2019 at Shell Lake Health Care.
He was born June 9, 1929 in Shell Lake, WI to Frank and Ila (Long) Holman, was raised in the area and graduated from Shell Lake High School. Al served as a combat engineer during the Korean Conflict. He was married in Stone Lake, WI on May 14, 1955 to Roxain Mikula who preceded him in death on May 25, 2012. Al took the designs and built the prototypes for the Shell Lake Boat Factory for many years, then built and installed cabinets for DuraBilt in Spooner and also worked several years for Peterson Fiberglass and Laminates. Outside of work, Al was a talented woodworker and took great pride in his creations. He was a talented and meticulous gardener.
He is survived by his daughter, Maxine (Bruce) Dakins of Birchwood; brother-in-law, Gail Mikula of Bloomer; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, June 20, 2019 at Skinner Funeral Home - Shell Lake with Pastor Timothy Young officiating and burial with full military honors to follow at Shell Lake Cemetery. Pallbearers are Jon Walter, Ron Spaulding, Steve Mickelson, Eugene Slayton, Tim Kringle and Stan Bush. Honorary pallbearers are Frank Mikula, Tim Mikula, Gary Walter, Roy Hendricks and Jim Mikula. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 PM Wednesday at the Skinner Funeral Home in Shell Lake and for 1 hour prior to the service on Thursday.
