In Memory of Alois Weiser


September 1, 1928 - November 20, 2019

Alois R. Weiser, age 91, of Hayward, WI passed away on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at his home. 

Alois Raymond Weiser was born September 1, 1928 in Odin, KS the son of Rudolph and Mary (Grellinger) Weiser.  He was raised on the family farm in Kansas and attend schools in the Odin area.  After graduating from high school, Al joined the U.S. Army on December 13, 1950 and served during the Korean War.  Al was honorably discharged on November 22, 1952 and then settled in Wisconsin where he worked at several jobs until owning and operating Surf Bowl, a bowling alley in Racine, WI.  On June 5, 1951, Al was joined in marriage to Joan Theres in Racine.  Al continued to work at the bowling alley until 1977 when he and Joan purchased Bill’s Landing Resort on Nelson Lake in Hayward, WI.  They changed the name of the resort to Weiser’s Landing and operated it for five years.  After selling the resort, Al and Joan moved into a home on Spring Lake near Hayward.  Al began work as a postal carrier for the Hayward Post Office and served in that position until his retirement ten years later.   Al enjoyed fishing, bowling, vegetable gardening, cooking, sausage making and watching the St. Louis Cardinals.  He was a member of Veterans of Foreign War, Knights of Columbus and St. Joseph Catholic Church. 

Al is survived by his two children, Jill (Greg) Peterson of Hayward, Stanley (Christine) Weiser of Bonita Springs, FL; four grandsons; one great granddaughter; two sisters, Trudy Sturdy of Sun City West, AZ, Katie Reif of Wichita, KS; and many nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Joan; seven brothers and one sister.

A visitation will be held for Al from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Monday, December 2nd, at the Hayward Funeral Home.  Interment will be in the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner, WI with Father David Neuschwander officiating.  Military honors will be accorded by the State of Wisconsin Military Funeral Honors Program. 

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Hayward Regional Hospice, 15910 W Company Lake Rd Ste 3 or St. Joseph Catholic Church, PO Box 877, both of Hayward, WI 54843.
