In Memory of Alicia D. Paukstat

January 21, 1990 - September 17, 2024

Alicia Dawn Paukstat, “Maanameg (Catfish)” age 34, passed away on September 17, 2024. Alicia was born to Roberta Merrill and Lawrence Paukstat on January 21, 1990, in Amery, Wisconsin.

Alicia grew up in the Round Lake Community, surrounded by her parents, siblings, and many friends and relatives, and occasionally resided with her grandparents, Dora Merrill and Eugene (Geno) Lowe, and cousin, Anthony (Baby Tony) Lowe Jr. in Turtle Lake, Wisconsin. She attended school at Unity School District and Turtle Lake School District throughout her childhood, until graduation.

She and her partner, Joseph (Joe) Potter would later welcome two children, Jadan Potter and Jorian Potter, whom she raised and loved dearly.

Alicia would go on to work at each of the St Croix Casinos, where she would meet many wonderful coworkers and friends. All would say her smile, presence, and personality were as bright as her “louds” (earrings), inside and outside of work. A sentiment she felt about them as well.

In her own time, she enjoyed going to Starbucks, having a few drinks with her favorites at Straight 8, gambling with her Bobo, beading earrings, and playing her favorite games on Xbox. But most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her friends and family, especially her sons, mother, and siblings. And although she was known as many things, (Weesh, Weeza, Mayate, “bes” friend, Fav Chap, Mama-da, and more) she will always be remembered as a wonderful and loving mother, daughter, sister, friend, and beautiful soul.

Alicia leaves to celebrate her memory: Parents: Roberta Merrill, Lawrence Paukstat; Sons: Jadan Potter, Jorian Potter; Siblings: Marcus (Bobo) Paukstat, Brittany Paukstat, Forrest Coon, Maurice Benjamin; and many, many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Alicia is preceded in death by Grandparents: Dora Merrill, Eugene Lowe, and June Boursaw; Great Grandparents: Nora Merrill (Wakemeup), and Henry Merrill.

Wake services for Alicia will begin on Thursday, September 19, 2024, at 2:00 PM, at the Round Lake Community Center. Funeral service will be held on Friday, September 20, 2024, beginning at 10:00 AM. Alicia will be laid to rest in the Round Lake Cemetery.
