In Memory of Alfred G. Stumph
Alfred Gerard Stumph, 73 passed away on July 26, 2024 at Mosaic Gardens Memory Care in Surprise, AZ.
Al was born on February 25, 1951 to Alfred (Jr.) Stumph and Lila Jones Stumph in Spooner, WI.
Al attended school in Spooner through his sophomore year, before the family moved to Rockford, IL where he graduated from Rockford West High School, Class of 1969.
After graduation Al was employed at Greyhound Lines until entering the United States Army in 1970 serving 2 years stationed in LA, HI and Okinawa, Japan as a Military Policeman. After his discharge, he returned to Greyhound Lines as a Coach Driver.
In 1982, Al and Dianna met, and then they along with son Philip moved to Wisconsin, where they were united in marriage in June of 1984 and welcomed sons Al and Jesse.
In 1991, the family moved to Spooner, WI where they resided for the next 30 years, before relocating to Surprise, AZ in 2021.
Al retired from Greyhound Lines after 30 years of service, but continued to work as a semi driver until an injury forced retirement in 2010. Al was very proud of the fact that after driving more than a million miles professionally he never had a chargeable accident.
Al enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren fishing, baking blackberry pies, making “Puffy” french toast, playing UNO, and attending and watching his Brewers, Packers and Wisconsin Badgers.
One of Al’s most surreal memories was when his Mother-In-Law Kay took her children and their families including him on vacation to Hawaii.
Al was an avid outdoorsman enjoying walking in nature, berry picking, hunting, with his real passion being fishing. After retirement, until COVID forced the US/Canadian border to be closed, Al was able to live out his dream of fishing daily on Lake of the Woods, Canada.
Al is survived by his wife of 40 years Dianna, Sons; Philip Bleile, Al (Sarah) Stumph, and Jesse (Brittany) Stumph. Grandchildren; Isaac, Taylor, Kade, Kolton, and Helena.
