In Memory of Albert Jilek


November 27, 1932 - March 2, 2022

ALBERT LAWRENCE JILEK, age 89, was born November 27,1932 to Charles and Marie (Janosik) Jilek.

He entered eternal life surrounded by his loving family March 2, 2022.

As a child he and his family belonged to OUR LADY OF THE MOUNT Catholic Church in Pribram, Wi. After the church closed the family became members of St. John the Evangelist in Birchwood, WI. Al remained a devoted member to this day. Al was drafted into the army in 1952 during the Korean War. He was a field wireman in Alaska’s -54 degree weather. He was honorably discharged in 1954. He married the love of his life, Bonnie Kraimer, January 9, 1960. They had three daughters, Marie, Leona and Debbie. His first employment was at the Birchwood Lumber and Veneer Mill. Then in 1970 he began a 33 year logging business with his brother Larry. He also raised beef cattle for 45 years. He did love his cattle! Al was an avid gardener so in 1992 he and his brother Larry built a vegetable stand and sold sweet corn and a large variety of vegetables. Their stand, JILEK’S SWEET CORN AND VEGETABLE STAND, located outside of Birchwood, has flourished for 29 years. Al loved being outdoors gardening, fishing, hunting, and tending his cattle. He loved watching Westerns and woodworking. He built a hutch for his home and one for each of his daughters. He also built a beautiful Grandfather clock. He loved traveling and time with his family having a special love for his four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Albert is survived by his daughters, Marie Jilek, Leona Bjugstad, and Debbie Doyen (Brad), four grandchildren, Bobbie Jo Kohn, Nate Doyen, Nick Doyen, and Eric Bjugstad, four great grandchildren Caroline Kohn, Wyatt Kohn, Madelyn Doyen, and Preston Doyen; his four legged granddaughter, Daisy Duke; a sister, Mary Ann Jilek; two brothers Patrick Jilek and Larry Jilek; brother-in-law, Russell Kemp; three sister-in-laws, Dee- Dee Kraimer, Pat Klossner, Kathy Kraimer and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife Bonnie, his parents, a brother Charles A.Jilek, sister Bernice Kemp, nephew Gregory Kemp, father and mother-in-law Herb and Leone Kraimer, son-in-law Jim Bjugstad and brother-in-law Herbie Kraimer; and his favorite four legged granddaughter, LaTasha Rose.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11AM Friday, March 11, 2022 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Birchwood, WI, Father Dave Oberts officiating, with interment in Woodlawn Cemetery in Birchwood, where Military Rites accorded him by the Birchwood American Legion Post. Visitation will be held from 4-7PM Thursday at Appleyard’s Home for Funerals in Rice Lake and for one hour prior to the funeral service at the church on Friday.
