Woman Sentenced On Additional Convictions From Multi-County High-Speed Pursuit

CHIPPEWA COUNTY -- The Court has sentenced a woman on additional criminal convictions stemming from a 2020 high-speed pursuit that began in Chippewa County, traveled through Barron County, and ended in Washburn County.

DrydenWire previously reported on May 18, 2020, that Danielle Ford had been arrested following the high-speed pursuit that ended after Ford’s vehicle drove over spike strips. The pursuit ended near County Highway B in Washburn County and was approximately 40 miles in length all on Hwy 53, according to a press release from the Barron County Sheriff’s Department.

Ford was driving a vehicle stolen out of the West Allis area. Ford allegedly had stolen another car in Illinois before stealing the vehicle she was driving during the pursuit. Chippewa County Sheriff’s Department, Barron County Sheriff's Department, Barron Police Department, Rice Lake Police Department, Wisconsin State Patrol, Spooner Police Department, Shell Lake Police Department, and the Washburn County Sheriff’s Office all provided assistance on the matter.

A charge of Felony Vehicle Operator Flee/Elude Officer was filed against Ford in Barron County Circuit Court and in October 2020, DrydenWire reported that Ford had been sentenced in Barron County on a reduced charge of Misdemeanor Resisting/Failing to Stop. Ford was sentenced to pay court costs including a DNA surcharge totaling $443.

Ford was also charged in Chippewa County Circuit Court with Felony 1st-Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety, Felony Vehicle Operator Flee/Elude Officer, Misdemeanor Bail Jumping, and Misdemeanor Resisting or Obstructing an Officer.

Online circuit court records show that at a recent hearing in Chippewa County Circuit Court Ford entered a plea of No Contest to her charge of Felony Vehicle Operator Flee/Elude Officer. The remaining charges filed against her were dismissed but read in. The Court ordered Ford to serve 180 days in jail, and pay over $500 in costs and fees.
